Public Realm projects

The main priority of the public realm strategy is to create an attractive, safe, clean and green city.  The strategy contains proposals for a significant investment in the city’s public spaces.  Other existing areas will be greatly enhanced and new spaces will be created.  The accent will be on establishing Salisbury as a naturally green city supported by a high quality, uncluttered and attractive street scene.

The public realm is streets, squares, parks, courtyards, alleys and malls; the spaces between buildings both public and semi-private. These are the places where people walk, drive, cycle, are pushed or carried somewhere. They are the places where major activity does or used to take place. Places where people meet, talk, trade, entertain or are entertained.
